Low Sugar Smoothie Recipe for Radiant Skin
When it comes to acne (and everything else), nutrition is important. Making sure your body is getting all those necessary nutrients and minerals it crucial. If you are going to have healthy skin then you need to have all the necessary building blocks.
Most food these days contains significantly less nutrition than they did even 50 years ago. Industrial agriculture which relies heavily on chemicals and fossil fuel has stripped the soil of its mineral content. Food grown in nutrient poor soil, becomes nutrient poor food.
For this reason it can be difficult to get enough food to fuel the body. I like to beef up my daily nutrition by eating a nutrient-rich green smoothie. Smoothies are a great vessel to get in all those extra things you might be missing. They are also a great way to eat greens, especially when you don’t like them that much!
The problem with many smoothie recipes is that they tend to be very high in fruit and sugar. While some fruit is ok, too much can mess with your blood sugar. Blood sugar imbalance can mess with your hormones and lead to acne breakouts. Keeping sugar to a minimum, even natural fruit sugar, is key to achieving healthy skin.
Here is my favorite low sugar green smoothie recipe. You can choose whichever greens you like. My personal favorite is kale and spinach. You can also swap out the blueberries for other berries like raspberries or strawberries. I use coconut milk since I don’t eat dairy, but feel free to use plain yogurt instead. Customize your green smoothie and make it perfect for you!
